Day 54 – Behind the Scenes Saturday

Recycled glass beads | you really need a kiln to make glass beads properly!

I love my kiln. It’s where all the behind the scenes things take place like stabilising and strengthening the bead through a process known as “annealing”. Beads that don’t go through this process in an actual kiln are more likely to break, so it’s worth investing in. Beads anneal at 510 C so it can get very hot in my studio at times! I also need to use oven gloves to help me out when things get that hot.
