Day 70 – Green recycled glass pendant necklace

Green recycled glass necklace | glass beads made from assorted glass objects

Inspired by Monday. Today I get to hang out at Womadelaide again. It has been an awesome weekend and I have loved so many things about this world music and dance festival. I was lucky to get a job volunteering there and have made the most of my four day pass, watching and dancing to some amazing bands that I would never normally get to see. Today I have made a necklace using assorted recycled glass beads in a range of greens. I love mixing different shades of green like this. I also like the simplicity of this necklace. I think it will be visiting womadelaide with me today!

Day 68 – Behind the scenes

Behind the scenes Saturday. My studio is a light-filled room in my house where I can make beads on one side and then make jewellery on the other side. I don’t need a huge space for either of these activities, but I do need a space!

Day 67 – Perfume bottle experiment

Recycled glass beads | sometimes things don't work out quite as you would hope for!

I had such high expectations for this perfume bottle, I am an eternal optimist I guess! I should have known, as soon as I started warming it up, that it wasn’t going to work out, but I kept going and in the end…it just turned out to be clear glass after all. Oh well it was still worth a shot.

Day 63 – Purple and green recycled glass bead necklace

Inspired by Monday. Today as I wandered through various social media feeds I was reminded that on Friday it is International Women’s Day. I feel so lucky to have been brought up believing a woman can do anything. I can go to a concert by myself, travel the world on my own, choose any career that I want, follow my dreams. Now that I have a daughter of my own I am thoughtful about how I talk to her. I want her to grow up believing she can do anything! If she wants to play footy now…she can! I couldn’t do that when I was a kid. I love seeing the barriers between men and women changing. I love that girls have opportunities that weren’t there 20 years ago. And I wonder what opportunities her daughter will have (well, that is if she decides to have children)! All of the beads in this necklace are made from various recycled glass sources!

Day 61 – Behind the scenes Saturday

Recycled glass jewellery | behind the scenes

Yes, my jewellery making space is always a mess! I kind of like having beads and other bits and pieces all over the desk, it can sometimes be the starting point for a new piece! The pliers are years old and very well used.
