Taking apart old necklaces, to make new necklaces

Taking apart old necklaces, to make new necklaces

I love being able to take old necklaces apart and re-use the beads in new pieces. Last year I made a necklace with all of the beads at the bottom of this necklace, lots of beads, so many beads! It sat in one shop for several months and didn’t sell, it went to the markets and nearly sold, it went back to another shop and didn’t sell…so yesterday I brought it home with me, I took it apart this morning and I used four of the beads in this new necklace. This new necklace may face the same challenges, people may not like it enough, it may not ever sell, but I loved making this new necklace, and some times THAT part of the process is what matters the most!

Colourful glass bead bracelets – pink, purple and coral

pink purple coral glass bead bracelets

This month I wanted to make some necklaces to enter the Murray Bridge Show, but I was a little bit time poor, so I decided to use beads that I had already made. The end result was three really pretty necklaces, that won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Jewellery category! The other result was that I got to look through all of my old beads, and get inspired by some of them. I have made this Kandinsky style of bead for many years, and I have made all sorts of necklaces, earrings and bracelets using them. You might still have something in your own jewellery box, I certainly do! I love the style, and I was excited to try some new bracelets using some new colours.

There are lots of pretty colours in the shops at the moment, and I wanted to create a bracelet that could work with a number of different colours. I like how the coral makes the purple and pink a whole lot more fantastic in this bracelet. The opaque colours create a strong and vibrant bracelet.

The bracelets will retail for $65 in galleries, and for this month they are discounted by a little bit more than 20%, rounding them down to just $50.

Please let me know what size you would like the bracelet, as I am able to easily add and take beads from these bracelets to make them work for you.

This month I wanted to make some necklaces to enter the Murray Bridge Show, but I was a little bit time poor, so I decided to use beads that I had already made. I was shopping in Myer recently, and fell in love with a dress that had these colours in it! I didn’t buy the dress, but I absolutely love these colours together. There is something both retro and modern about this combination, and the mix of glass makes this bracelet really interesting.

The bracelets will retail for $65 in galleries, and for this month they are discounted by a little bit more than 20%, rounding them down to just $50.

Colourful glass bead bracelets – green and brown

This month I wanted to make some necklaces to enter the Murray Bridge Show, but I was a little bit time poor, so I decided to use beads that I had already made. I had an interesting conversation with another artist recently, where we talked about the magic of putting brown and green together! These colours together gives you a bracelet that you can wear with so many different colours of clothing. The combination of opaque and transparent beads in this bracelet, makes for a very unique bracelet.

The bracelets will retail for $65 in galleries, and for this month they are discounted by a little bit more than 20%, rounding them down to just $50.

Please let me know what size you would like the bracelet, as I am able to easily add and take beads from these bracelets to make them work for you.

Colourful glass bead bracelets – mustard and grey

Mustard and Grey Glass Bracelets

This month I wanted to make some necklaces to enter the Murray Bridge Show, but I was a little bit time poor, so I decided to use beads that I had already made. I have never really loved the colour yellow, but this mustard colour is a whole new thing for me. Last month I bought my first mustard cardigan, and it has quickly become my go-to cardigan to wear with jeans and a simple t-shirt. I love the colours in this bracelet, and the mix of opaque and transparent beads makes it really interesting.

The bracelets will retail for $65 in galleries, and for this month they are discounted by a little bit more than 20%, rounding them down to just $50.
