12 Days of Christmas – Day 1

On my walk this morning…
I tried a new walk last week, and I’m loving it. It’s just the right length, takes just the right amount of time, and I get a great view in the middle. Happy.
On Saturday I was part of one of the most amazing markets I have ever done. The Etsy Made Local market in Unley was amazing. A massive congratulations to the organisers for doing such a great job.
This weekend I am at the Flinders Street Market’s Christmas Bazaar! I will be there both days from 10am until 6pm. This will be my last market for the year. I hope to see you there. And please let me know if you need anything, I can make it this week and take it to the market with me.
Colour of the Month – Green
I hope you have enjoyed this Green Month so far! I didn’t realise until I started writing these posts that I had kept the jewellery very green. Usually I add some contrasting colour, just to show how colours interact. But, the “complementary” colour to green on the colour wheel is red, and you know what happens when you put green and red together in jewellery? You get Christmas pieces! So, yeah, everything is green.
I made this mixed bead necklace with several shades of green, and I actually like how it turned out. For those who like things to match, I also made the bracelet.
On my walk this morning…
It was so lovely to walk this morning. The last few days have been very busy and very tiring physically. We moved house! Actually we moved into our own home. It’s been such a long journey for us to finally be living in our own home. I am so grateful that we are finally here!
At school drop off this morning one of the mums told me she had finished all of their Christmas shopping. I was impressed. We haven’t even started thinking about any of that yet! Are you a last minute shopper too? Don’t worry. If you are last minute, and you need some jewellery gifts, then you can find me at the following markets this weekend and next weekend. If you miss the markets, you can always find me at one of the shops where I sell my work. Doing it all…
When I lived in Mount Gambier, life was different. I got involved with some of the local markets there, but when it came to market opportunities further away, well, I had to say no.
This year, now that we are living a lot closer to Adelaide, I have said yes to lots more opportunities to do markets. Sometimes it might seem a bit crazy, to do so many markets, but I have always loved doing markets, so I guess I am a little bit crazy!
On Saturday November 28 I will be doing 2 markets. Actually, I will be doing one of the markets, and my mum and daughter will be doing the other market.

Colour of the Month – Green
I made a bunch of these necklaces when I did the Colour Wheel Colour of the Month jewellery, and people seemed to like them.
So, I thought I would make some with green beads. What do you think?

Colour of the Month – Green
Well, it’s better late than never around here at the moment! I’m slowly catching up on everything (I think)!

So November is all about the colour green. The series will also run into December. And then I’ll start the next colour of the month in January. OK?
Green is a pretty frustrating colour to work with in glass. I don’t know what they have done to it to make it that way, but let’s just say it’s a very tricky colour, and it’s very difficult to create nice patterns with the glass. I had actually planned a different range of work, but when I went to make the beads the glass was not playing nicely!
Er, so…I made some necklaces like the ones below with very simple round beads. I’m actually really pleased with how they turned out. There are so many shades of green. I have etched the beads on the top necklaces, and left them shiny on the other. Which version do you prefer?
A quick note about postage
At the moment, packages that I am sending are either getting to their destination really fast (which is the best), or they are taking a ridiculously long time to get there! I have been so frustrated with a few packages sent recently!
The reason I am mentioning this is because if you are thinking about ordering something from me for Christmas….now would be a great time to do that. It would give you the best chance of receiving your gift in time.
If you are overseas, packages *should* take around 2 weeks to be delivered. I have been experiencing longer times than that recently.
If you are in Australia *most* items should be received within 2-3 days. I would allow at least a week at the moment.
If you would like to upgrade any packages to Express Post, please contact me and I can certainly do that for you. It does cost a bit extra though.
