Day 106. The Hendricks Gin (Limited Release) is such a beautiful colour, but it always photographs so poorly. I may need to hold them up to the light so you can see the lovely purple glow shining through. Anyway, today I have added some small beads made from a Fever Tree bottle.
Day 104. Working on some new designs for my gin and tonic earrings. The new range will feature beads made from Bombay Sapphire, Hendricks (original), Hendricks (limited release) and Tanqueray Gin as pictured. The clear beads will all be made from Fever Tree tonic bottles.
Day 103. Happy Easter. On my to do list while things are a bit quiet and weird is to crochet a scarf. I got this wool from @bendigowoollenmills last week and the colours have inspired me to make some earrings that will hopefully work well with the scarf when I am finished.
Day 102. This pair of earrings took a bit of rearranging and testing out of different yellows and greys, before I finally settled on this. Same same but different.
Day 101. I had a feeling that after I made the earrings on Day 94 I was going to change things up a bit to make another pair of upside-down-twisty earrings! Hope everyone is having a beautiful Easter, whatever you have ended up doing. I am going to go super slow, do lots of crocheting, read some books, have some afternoon naps and no plans other than that.
Day 100!!! Playing with shapes and colours. Still one of my favourite things to do. I think I moved about 20 different beads through these earrings, and changed the way the triangles sat quite a few times before settling on these earrings. Colourful, bright, happy, and a little bit different.
Day 99. I saw these two beads sitting in my box of beads as I walked past this morning and they caught my eye for some reason. I searched for beads to match either of these beads, and was a bit disappointed that all I had were these two streaky ivory/black beads. It took a little while to convince myself that it could be OK to make a pair of earrings with these beads. So similar, yet so different, but I love how the squareness of the design pulls it all together. If you love them too, they are just $35 with free shipping.
Day 98. When all else fails, return to an idea that you love and see what happens. I have no idea why mismatched earrings have appealed to me so much this year, but I am loving the different ways that you can make earrings not match! There is a lot of freedom in making earrings like this, and currently a lot of joy and creativity too. You would think there are no rules, but I can feel when I haven’t quite got it right and so I keep searching for the perfect bead. I really love the colours and the variations in beads in these earrings. And just in case you also love them, they are $35 and include free postage 🙂
Day 97. Epic fail or work in progress? It’s just a matter of perspective I guess. Today, these earrings are pretty much a fail. There are so many things wrong with them that I could have decided that I didn’t want to post them here, and I could have simply made another pair of earrings. But failing at making things is how we push ourselves into new places. I loved the design and the idea behind these earrings, but they didn’t turn out how they were supposed to. There are things I can do better, if and when I want to. I am just glad that I tried something very different for me, and while it failed today, it’s still a work in progress if I feel like going back to it. Time will tell.
