Upcycled earrings with recycled glass beads

Upcycled earrings with recycled glass beads

Day 96. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone getting in touch online to purchase earrings. I am happy to post any of the earrings that I put online. Sometimes if a pair has sold, I can make a similar pair, so feel free to get in touch. This pair of earrings features sparkly golden beads made from a wine bottle.

Upcycled earrings

Day 95. When I first started making jewellery I would go to opp-shops to find old necklaces that I could take apart and make into new necklaces. Who knew 30 years ago that this was actually “upcycling” 🙂 For me it was just a lot more affordable than going to a bead shop! Last year a dear friend asked me if one of her broken necklaces might be useful, and when I saw all of these lovely silver disks I was thrilled that she had thought that I might be able to upcycle them into something new. I have added some delicious yellow/green beads to make this pair of earrings. And to think…that necklace was probably going into landfill.

Day 94. I went shopping today and all of the items that I needed on my list were available! Small wins. Sometimes my days look a bit like these earrings, a bit twisted and upside down, but I still choose to be grateful for the little things. This pair of earrings is available, just leave a comment below. They are $35 and include free shipping.

Recycled glass AND recycled tin earrings

Day 91. A million years ago…no, not really, more like about 7 years ago…I collected all sorts of tin objects with the idea that I would add tin “bits and pieces” to my recycled glass jewellery, to create something a little bit different. What I realised in the process was….I really love making glass beads, and I didn’t really love doing the tin work! Hey, you gotta try it to know for sure. Anyway, I had some of these tin disks left over from an exhibition, so I thought I might use some here and there. Today I have put these tin disks with the Hendricks Gin Limited Release bead for a truly recycled jewellery piece!

Streaky Green Glass Earrings

Streaky Green Glass Earrings

Day 90. Ah, glass. I really this streaky Italian glass, and etching just makes it even more dramatic. There are a few different opaque colours that will do this streaky effect, and it can be both lovely, and annoying at times too!

The final pair of red, black and white earrings

red, black and white glass earrings

Day 87. The final pair of earrings in the red, black and white series! I have used most of the beads that I made the other day. Most of the galleries that sell my work are now officially closed until further notice. My Etsy and Online shops are always open, and you can also message me via Instagram, Facebook or email if you see anything you like.
