Day 34. Two more pairs of earrings ready for the “Birds of a Feather” SALA exhibition at @tartscollective, loving this colour combination too.

Day 33. Today I am starting to make some earrings for the group SALA exhibition at @tartscollective. The theme is “Birds of a Feather” and I am going to have a selection of mismatched bird and flower earrings in it. This is the only SALA exhibition that I am part of this year. The work will be available from August 1.

Day 32. This morning I finished making the jewellery in this collection made from @bethanywines_barossa wine bottles. The collection was inspired by the new labels for their wine bottles, along with the beautiful colours of the wine bottles. Today we are heading on a road trip to the Barossa Valley to deliver the work. Hopefully it doesn’t rain too much 🌧

Day 31. Finishing the last few pieces of jewellery made from @bethanywines_barossa wine bottles today.

Day 30. I went through my box of old beads over the weekend, it’s a very big box filled with beads I have made and collected over the last 30 years! Anyway, I found a necklace that was made from beads I had made when I was living in Sydney, more than 15 years ago! I remember making them, and I remember really loving them back then, and I was thrilled to find myself still liking them now. It was my first chance to play with colours in bead making, and it didn’t stop there. Today I took the necklace apart and made some of the beads into earrings. Mismatched of course!

Day 29. Today’s job…turning these recycled glass beads into pieces of jewellery for @bethanywines_barossa! I made a bracelet today. I really like the mix of greens, blues and browns inspired by their new wine bottle labels.

Day 28. Another pair of earrings heading to @bethanywines_barossa this week. I love these earthy colours, inspired by their new wine bottle labels.

Day 26. I never really know how red glass is going to turn out. It can lose all of its colour when it has been heated, but then it can return by heating it up. It’s an interesting process, and I am glad to see how dark these beads turned out.

Day 27. I love working with @bethanywines_barossa wine bottles, and creating new pieces of jewellery for them. The next collection of work has been inspired by their beautiful new labels. Swipe to see the first pair of earrings. Can’t wait to go on a road trip to the Barossa Valley at the end of this week. One of my favourite places to visit, and incredibly beautiful in winter.

Day 25. I always love how a functional object like a cup can be transformed into a wearable object like these earrings. I am often asked to make special pieces of jewellery from broken glass objects for people, for all sorts of lovely sentimental reasons. I love being able to turn these broken objects into new pieces. There are so many different ways of making beads with recycled glass, but there are also some limitations.
