Making it through winter 2021

wave bead necklace

Making it through winter 2021. If you have been following me for a while, you will know that I love a daily creative challenge. In 2020 I set out to make a pair of glass earrings every day. I finished that challenge and thought…no more of these challenges! But lately I have been feeling a bit low on energy thanks to it being winter, and also excited about all the making I did for the window exhibition at T’Arts. I was thinking about what I could do to motivate myself a bit more, and the idea of a #100daychallenge felt like something I could do. So for the next 100 days, to well and truly get me through winter, I will be making something and posting a photo here. It might be beads, earrings, a bracelet, a necklace, or something else. Who knows? I can’t wait to see what the next 100 days brings. Today I have made a necklace featuring handmade wave beads and pearls.

New recycled glass jewellery

recycled glass bead bracelet

Getting ready to photograph and list some new recycled glass jewellery pieces for my Etsy shop. It will be nice to have these bracelets and necklaces available as options for people who love the Green Depression glass jewellery range, and also the Hendricks Midsummer Solstice Gin range. The dark purple glass has already been a popular choice for earrings. Available from tomorrow night.

Gin and Tonic Earrings

gin and tonic earrings

It can be tricky buying jewellery online. I have all sorts of recycled glass earrings to choose from, and the gin and tonic range is always very popular. It was so nice to see this feedback on Etsy recently. I love using Etsy to sell my work, and it’s really awesome when people take the time to leave positive comments, as it helps other people to decide it’s OK to shop online with me.

Creative Challenge #3

glass bird jewellery

Our third creative challenge was inspired at first by Frida Kahlo, and slowly shifted towards Mexican Folk Art. I looked at lots of images, and the bird motif kept popping up which led me to make brightly coloured bird beads! Margie also used birds in one of her paintings.
