Just over a week away now! I am looking forward to the opening afternoon. Hope to see you there!

And the second necklace that I made at @tartscollective on Saturday. Lots of lovely greens and blues in a mix of recycled and Italian glass.

In between serving customers at @tartscollective today, I am making some new pieces for the shop! I love my day in the shop and love talking to customers about my work. Lots of people don’t realise that I make all of the beads! This necklace will feature beads made from a variety of recycled glass objects. In between are freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones.

I have been working on a small collection of jewellery featuring ocean inspired beads for @naomischwartzjewellerydesign SALA exhibition. It will run through August and the theme is “Winter Collections” from a range of jewellers.

1000 glass beads featuring red all sorted! Now to make some jewellery for my @salafestival exhibition!

1000 glass beads! All featuring red: Bordello, firecracker, garnet, maroon, pimento, sangre, carrot red, light red, dark red, purple red, transparent red, lipstick opal, mystic red, strawberry, filigrano red. So many beautiful shades of red in this collection of beads. Next step is sorting through the beads, putting them into groups and then making earrings! Getting closer to the exhibition opening on Saturday August 13 at All Souls Church in St Peters.

Getting close now! I have been busy on the torch this week. Yesterday I added 68 beads to the collection of red beads I am making for my @salafestival exhibition. The second photo is the current total of 860 beads. It’s a lot of beads. It only just fits in a plastic takeaway box. I will finish the beads this week and then I will start making jewellery. No idea where I am going to start, but I just keep repeating the phrase: bead by bead!

Love making these twistie beads! It’s fun twisting hot glass together, always amazes me what you can do with glass!

Adding some more colourful beads to the red collection this morning. Total is now 472. Nearly halfway there! At times I am not sure why I decided to make 1000 beads, but then there are moments on the torch when I try something slightly different and I think that creative freedom is the reason for the challenge. I mean…I have to make 1000 beads, I might as well try some new things!

Hoping for the best….but not getting it! Worth a try. You never know, although there are often some tell-tale signs. The glass was kind of scratched on this bottle, and it changed colour as soon as it was warmed up. Thanks for the donation, happy to give them a go.
