I wear a lot of black, and these new gin and tonic necklaces with all of the different gin bottles is working beautifully back with black. The Hendrick’s Original and Midsummer Solstice bottles look really great mixed in with the blues and greens of Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray and Citadelle gin bottle beads.

Two more earring tags to share with you.

Getting some new pieces of recycled glass jewellery ready for @hahndorfacademy and happy to say they will be the first of my lovely stockists to receive the new earring cards! I love how the label stating the name of the bottle is the same colour as the bottle 🙂

This bracelet features beads made from all of the gin bottles, and some from tonic bottles. Five gin bottles include: Bombay Sapphire, Citadelle, Tanqueray, Hendrick’s original and Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice. I will be making more of these for @tartscollective and they will be there on February 13 when I do my next shift.

Green Depression Glass! What can I say? It was the first “recycled” glass that I used to make beads, and it’s still one of my all time favourites. I love the history, the colour and the beautiful way it melts. I also love this review that was recently left for me on Etsy, where lots of different Green Depression glass earrings are now available. I am thrilled when people love what they have bought online.

I have a feeling I will be using pearls again this year! I love the extra colour in these pieces from the freshwater pearls. This jewellery is heading to @stationmaster5255 gallery in Strathalbyn in the next couple of days. One of my favourite places to go for a coffee and a wander through the galleries and shops that are there.

Getting some new necklaces ready for @stationmaster5255 gallery in Strathalbyn. This necklace features blue beads made from vodka, wine, gin and tonic bottles. I love how the new Citadelle beads work in beautifully with the other blue beads.

From bottle, to broken glass, to beads, to earrings! It’s quite a process to go from a discarded bottle to a beautiful pair of earrings, but it’s worth the effort when the glass is as lovely as the Citadelle gin bottle. I have just launched a collection of jewellery on my Etsy site, and as an introductory special there is a 20% discount on this range until the end of January. Link in bio.

Hello! I thought it might be nice to introduce myself for the start of a new year. I am Julie and I started making jewellery when I left school. That was 30 years ago, and although I did try to stop once, when I lived in London for a couple of years, it wasn’t long before I found the bead shop in Covent Garden and started again!! I love making jewellery, and when I discovered that I could make my own glass beads, it took things to a whole new level. When I had my first child (nearly 12 years ago) I started thinking about the world quite differently and I started making beads from recycled glass sources. In this way I am trying to make my own small difference to how rubbish is perceived and can be reused in many different ways. Making beads from recycled glass has become one of my favourite parts of this creative journey. And it makes me happy when people also love this idea and start saving glass bottles for me! I have a few plans for exhibitions and collections of jewellery this year, and I look forward to sharing images of this process with you. A big thanks to the talented @rosinapossingham who took this photo a couple of years ago.
