Earrings just want to have fun

Recycled glass earrings

Day 158. Gosh, these are a whole lot of fun to wear, and now that pubs are starting to open again…we have somewhere to wear beautiful jewellery (LOL)! The beads in this pair of earrings were made from assorted clear recycled glass bottles and have etched, pixie dust and shiny finishes.

Recycled wine bottle earrings

Day 157. Incredibly cold starts to the mornings here in South Australia. These earrings are supposed to look a bit icy! Made from a wine bottle, with three subtly different finishes: pixie dust, clear and etched. I like how they are all a bit different and still from the same bottle.

Day 155. I talk to my children all the time about inclusion and that it’s OK for everyone to be different. When I look at the friends they are making and see children of all kinds of ethnicities playing with them I feel incredibly proud that they are able to see beyond colour, that they can see people. I can only hope that these conversations and beliefs will help to shape a new future for our world.

Day 154. I had a request to make some fish earrings recently! I used to make lots and lots of fish earrings and necklaces, and some times I wonder why I stopped. It was nice to get back on the torch and make some more. If you have a request, please feel free to let me know.

Getting ready for a new exhibition

Day 153. One thing I love about getting ready for a new exhibition is looking at what I have done in the past and working out how to make changes to make new things. I have loved making jewellery with enamelled copper tubes, and I think I will be making more soon. Today’s earrings feature beads made from a wine bottle.

Day 150. So happy to hear that SALA exhibitions are starting to be confirmed. As long as exhibitions comply with current social distancing rules, they can go ahead. I have been in a bit of limbo for a few months, one exhibition was cancelled already, but yesterday my exhibition at @stationmaster5255 gallery in Strathalbyn was confirmed and now it’s full steam ahead!! These earrings are made from Green Depression Glass and remind me of a SALA exhibition that I held at Lustre Galleries in 2009! It was the first year I really started experimenting with recycled glass. Really looking forward to seeing where SALA 2020 pushes me creatively.
