View from my studio

Ah, it’s been nice to be in my new studio, it’s working out quite well.  I have been making lots of recycled glass beads.  It’s kind of interesting to work with the limitations of the recycled glass, you can’t go too crazy with the decoration on those beads as you have to stick to the same type of glass to avoid cracking issues.  But it’s nice to always have my Italian glass near me so I can daydream about the colours, and combinations of colours.

Greenery #2

When Pantone release a colour of the year, they also add some colour schemes along with it, which makes it really interesting for someone like me to play with.  I enjoyed looking at the Fathomless and Moody Blooms colour schemes, and working out what glass to use to create necklaces.

View from my studio

So, a few people have asked me how the move went, and I have to say it was great.  The kids now have their own bedrooms, and I have a studio that has been seriously tidied up!  I am probably not in the ideal part of the house for making beads, but I am going to make the most of the time that I am there.  At least the room has air conditioning!  Not sure I’ll need it for much longer though.

I have released a series of new jewellery over the weekend, all inspired by Greenery, the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2017.  Check out the shop for more information.

I’ll be at the Murray Bridge Handmade Market on Saturday 25 March.  I’m really looking forward to doing a market again, it has been a while!  I’ll have some old and new work available on the day.

Hope all is well wherever you are!

Greenery #1

Greenery is the 2017 Pantone Colour of the Year.  I love being inspired by these colours, and had a lot of fun trying some new things this month.

Let’s start by taking a look at these necklaces made from assorted green glass.  Included in this necklace are wine bottles, beer bottles and even Green Depression glass.  The silk cord is adjustable, so you can wear the necklace quite long, or shorter if you prefer.

Available in my shop now (keep in mind they are one-off necklaces, so could be sold).

Pixie Dust

Pixie Dust!  It sounds so cute and special, and it actually looks amazing on glass.  The silver and gold look beautiful, a kind of muted sparkly effect.  They contrast so nicely with the beads that are not decorated.  I love using the gold on the Peroni beer bottles, and the silver on the Skyy Vodka bottles.

Autumn

I really love Autumn, it’s such a great season.  Cool, fresh mornings and usually some nice warm days still.  Perfect for a sunshine lover such as myself.  I have started making some jewellery that suits the colours of autumn, like these double layered brown and purple necklaces.  They feature some really interesting beads, and are a lot of fun to wear with lots of movement in them.

Studio View

It’s nearly the end of summer, and we are about to have a fairly long stretch of hot weather!  I have to admit that it’s fairly hard to work in my studio when it’s hot.  With the torch, kiln and hotplate all going, it makes for a very warm room.  Still, it won’t be long before I am longing for the sunshine and warmth again.  I’m not much of a winter fan, but it can be nice working in my studio on winter days.

I am working on some new colour play jewellery for March.  I have some new ideas, and some old ideas that I have changed a bit.  I can’t wait to show you.  The newsletter will be out on March 9 showing all of the new work.  Have you signed up yet?

Random thanks

A big thanks to everyone who bought a random necklace from me recently, I hope you enjoy wearing them!  I also really appreciated all of the comments that came through.  Random necklaces are not easy for me to make, so I am glad that you all seemed to like them.  I’m working on some new jewellery for March, and I can’t wait to show you.

Random bead necklaces

I have just finished making a series of 8 random glass bead necklaces.  All necklaces are etched, and they are quite eye-catching!  I made an extra one for myself, and I find myself wearing it with all sorts of clothes.  (This is not normal for me, usually I stick to red)!

They are available in my online shop now.  Click on the image to get to the shop!  Or just click HERE!
