Winter is nearly over! Hooray! I’m starting to dream about days when it’s warm enough to go to the swimming pool again. We have blue skies here today, it is such a treat. Spring is in the air. I know winter is still lurking in the background, I know it’s not over yet, but I am happy that we are now on the other side of that season.
These earrings were made from recycled glass gin and wine bottles that I have decorated with frit. The style is simple and elegant. Perfect for those days when you just need a pop of colour while you are wearing a simple t-shirt and pants. Soon….
I have been making lots of leaf beads, and I have tried a few different bracelet designs already. See here and here and here!
Today I thought I had better start testing out some earrings to go with all of this new leaf jewellery. I started very simple with a silver hoop.
Some more earrings that you can shop for in my online shop.
I had some almost matching enamelled copper tubes on my workbench, so I thought…let’s make a pair of earrings! Long and all shades of blue.
I think winter is a great time to wear hoop earrings. For a start, they are less likely to get caught in your scarf! And they also look really cool.
I like this blue combination of beads. One of the beads was made from a Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle, and the other was from a Banrock Station wine bottle (decorated with some smashed up glass).
I have been enjoying trying new things, tweaking old designs, and coming up with new work as part of my “Year of Recycled Glass Jewellery“.
Today I have used some Banrock Station wine bottle beads, and mixed them with Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle beads. I love how nicely these two colours work together. I also really like the stud earring here, and of course….they are very dangly!
I have used a combination of Skyy Vodka, Banrock Station and Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle glass in these earrings! So pretty….
I love this combination of colours. Recycled glass beads made from a Banrock Station wine bottle plus a Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle. Bliss.
