The sweetest hoops

recycled glass earrings

I know, I’m a sucker for lovely hoop earrings, and I think I have found a new hoop to add to the collection. It’s simple, elegant and classic. I love the way the purple beads drop from the hoop. These beads were made from an old purple glass, and then acid etched to take the shine off the beads.

P.S. please forgive the less than amazing photograph, it was almost dark when I finished working on these earrings! Tomorrow I will do better.

Grateful

Feeling ever so grateful after the wonderful opening at Local Images on Friday night of “Be-Gin Again” and exhibition of my recycled glass bead jewellery, where all of the beads were made from gin and tonic water bottles!

It was lovely to chat to so many people who were really interested and enthusiastic about my work. Lovely to see how my new work was received. Lovely to see lots of red stickers!

Thanks Cate, and thanks Penola.

I found this leaf on my walk around the lakes in Mount Gambier on Saturday morning and it seemed to match how I was feeling.

Opening night!

recycled glass jewellery exhibition

I’m having a tiny break from making after creating 40 pieces for “Be-Gin Again” which is the exhibition being hosted by Local Images as part of the Penola Arts Festival.

It has been a crazy week of making all sorts of pieces for this exhibition. All of the beads were made from gin (and tonic bottles)!

The exhibition opened tonight, and already quite a few pieces have sold. I’m thrilled that the work has had such a good response here! Thanks Penola, you rock!
