Old School Flower Beads in Blue/Green

BlueGreenFlower

I used to make LOTS of this type of flower bead.  In all sorts of colours.  And then one day, I just stopped making them.  My husband asked me why, and I didn’t really have an answer for him.  I guess I just moved on to new and different beads.

But, I love making these beads, and I’m always delighted with how they turn out!  So, when I needed to plan some “new” work for the Little Treasures exhibition at Pepper Street Gallery I immediately thought of these!  It has been a long time since I have made any, and I can’t wait to make the jewellery for the exhibition.

Opens: 2.00PM Sunday 23 November 2014
Closes: 12.00PM Wednesday 24 December 2014
Where: Pepper Street Arts Centre, 558 Magill Road, Magill, SA, 5072

Poppies – the finished piece

PoppiesFinished

After around 15 attempts, I finally finished the Poppy necklace!

I made 100 Poppy beads for the necklace, to commemorate 100 years since the start of World War 1.  I really like how the necklace turned out.

It will be in display in the Riddoch Art Gallery (Main Corner, Mount Gambier), as part of the South East Art Society “Remembrance” exhibition.  Opening 6.00pm Friday 31st October.

Poppies

PoppiesNecklace

I am trying to make a necklace for the South East Art Society “Remembrance” exhibition.  I can picture it in my head, and draw it on paper, but the actual piece is causing me a bit of trouble.

It is going to have 100 of my handmade glass poppy flower beads on it, as a commemoration of 100 years since the start of World War 1.

I can’t tell you how many times I have pulled this necklace apart!  I think I am on iteration number 10.  It’s nearly right, but it has been tricky getting all 100 beads onto the necklace.

The exhibition at the Riddoch Art Gallery opens Friday October 31 at 6.00pm.

New Bead Storage Trays

BeadDisplay

I can’t believe I didn’t do this years ago…well, maybe it’s because I only recently saw these box frames in the shops!  I tipped all of my beads into the frames yesterday, and started making jewellery last night.  It was just awesome to see all of my beads laid out like that.  I am enjoying putting some new pieces together, like this stunning etched black/grey necklace.  Oh my, can’t wait to make more jewellery!
