Red wine bottle necklace

recycled glass necklace

After making two different pairs of earrings (long version and short version), and a cute bracelet with this colour, it’s now time to make a necklace to pull it all together! I love being able to put colour into the clear wine bottles, and love this red blend that I have used. Red is quite a difficult colour to find in glass, so it’s nice to be able to still make recycled glass beads and make them red.

Colour Wheel Jewellery #2

colour wheel necklace

Last week I shared with you the first of the colour play series for January!

This week, I have a new necklace and earrings based on the colour wheel to share with you.

I have taken one of my favourite styles of necklace, and made that into a colour wheel necklace. I have etched the beads, and given them a matt finish, just for something a bit different. The silver beads add a real sparkle to the necklace.

The green earrings are bright and cheerful, and also very comfortable to wear.

Check out the jewellery in the shop now.

Red wine bottle bracelet

recycled glass bead bracelet

I think this might possibly be the cutest bracelet I have ever made! The other day I was making beads using a wine bottle, adding red frit to them, and after I made some round ones, I made some small flat ones. As soon as I saw the beads I thought to myself “keep going” and I ended up making quite a few of these small flat beads.

I couldn’t wait to open the kiln the next day and see how they turned out. I quickly cleaned them, and made this bracelet, and I’m so happy with the way this turned out. I can see myself making more of this style going forward.

Hendricks Gin Bottle Bracelet

recycled glass bead bracelet

Following on from yesterday’s post, this bracelet was made with Hendricks Gin Bottle beads. I love how the dark brown beads look black when you wear them, and are such a pretty contrast to the silvery beads in the bracelet. Really loving the Hendricks gin bottle, and wondering why I didn’t smash it sooner to make beads!

Hendricks Gin Bottle Earrings

recycled glass earrings

I was given an empty Hendricks Gin bottle a while ago now, and I have kind of held onto it, waiting for the right time to smash it and turn it into beads! Then I was given another empty one not that long ago, and then I was given an actual bottle of gin for Christmas! So, with three bottles to play with it felt like the right time to smash one of them and start making beads. And I’m glad I did, because the glass is lovely to melt, and the end result is a super dark brown bead that looks really elegant. I have made the first beads into a pair of earrings, and I’ll be making a bracelet to share with you very soon.
