One for the beer lovers!

recycled glass necklace

I was so pleased with how the pendant that I made using gin bottle beads turned out yesterday, that I decided I had to try making one with beer bottle beads!  In the photo you can see all the different types of beads that I used. Some had gold leaf, some had gold pixie dust, some had frit. It’s a really diverse mix of beads! I love the little copper tube that has been enamelled, tying it all together along with the little Swarovski crystals.

I wore the necklace from yesterday for a while, just to see how it went, and I have to say I really enjoyed wearing it. I found myself reaching for it every now and then, and because it had so many things going on, it was quite a tactile experience! A bit calming as I was rushing around trying to get everything done.

Sparkly!

recycled glass bracelet

I was kind of struggling to get something made for this project this afternoon. I actually have lots of beads that I can pick and choose from, but nothing was quite working for me. As it was getting closer to school pickup time the pressure was really on!

I knew that I had a bunch of small round Bombay Sapphire Gin beads, and I was going through all of the other beads I have, wondering what I could add to them to make something…anything!

I came across some clear wine bottle beads that I had made for cufflinks a while ago, and not used all of them. I started to put something together, and I have to admit…I really like this bracelet. It’s super sparkly, which kind of matches the day we are having here. Sunshine and perfect weather!

Now, time for school pickup!

Square Hoops

recycled glass earrings

I think winter is a great time to wear hoop earrings. For a start, they are less likely to get caught in your scarf! And they also look really cool.

I like this blue combination of beads. One of the beads was made from a Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle, and the other was from a Banrock Station wine bottle (decorated with some smashed up glass).

Colour chaos

recycled glass necklace

Happy Easter Sunday! Today we are chilling at home, and I am playing with beads while the kids are eating their Easter eggs!

I got all of the drip beads that I have collected from all sorts of projects and put them all together on my beading mat. Took a few colours out, and then started weaving them onto three strands of wire. In the end it was a bit random, a bit undone when it didn’t look quite right, and a bit of just hoping for the best!  It does not sit flat, and it has lots of movement and colour, making it a very unique and interesting necklace indeed.

I’ve been trying to make this bracelet for about a week…

recycled glass bracelet

….I can’t tell you how many times I have pulled it apart, taken beads out, put beads in, put it back together. Nothing felt quite right until I got to this version, and this one made me smile. It’s a little bit quirky and different, but also a little bit stunning! Made with Hendricks gin bottle beads and Milk glass beads, the contrast is what makes it.

Simple earrings, pretty beads made from a wine bottle

recycled glass earrings

Sometimes it’s nice to keep things simple! I have been putting lots and lots of beads together lately, and today I took a deep breath, picked two beads that matched, and made this really pretty pair of earrings. I love how they sparkle when you wear them. The hooks are a great length, and I’m currently testing this pair to see how they wear.
