I have had a lot of fun making some new necklaces this week! These are still a work in progress, but I am liking this style, with the spiky beads at the bottom of the necklace. It has been so great to have access to all of my beads in the one place (remember those bead displays I bought earlier this year)? It has made the process a lot easier and more enjoyable!
I’ll post more photos when they are finished.
I rearranged my display at T’Arts yesterday, and was able to make one of the cubes into a display for some of my recycled glass bead jewellery! It was fun to see all of the different earrings that I have made (mostly from wine bottles).

I had a lovely time rearranging my display at T’Arts this morning! The shop was closed, so I put on some loud music (Angus and Julia Stone), and got to work taking necklaces out of the display and adding new necklaces and earrings, freshening things up a little bit! I even got to add a cube of recycled glass bead jewellery, which I will tell you more about tomorrow.
My bracelet making kits will be going in the window very soon, but if you want a kit, just let the person on duty at T’Arts know you saw them online. They are just on the desk out the back.

Looking for something different for a young girl? This would be perfect. I would say that starting from about 7 or 8 a girl would really enjoy making these bracelets.
I’m excited to announce that I will have a variety of Bracelet Making Kits available for sale from T’Arts very soon. I will be delivering them this weekend. The kits contains all of the beads, findings and instructions you need to make a really pretty bracelet. It even includes one of my handmade glass beads as the feature bead.
I think they will make really lovely gifts, something a bit different for Christmas. They will retail for $30. This is the bracelet that you can make with the kit.
I walked past this beautiful plant filled with these amazing Australian wildflowers. From what I can “google” it’s a pincushion protea. I walk past it most days on my walk, but this morning the light caught it, and it looked even prettier.
I spent the walk thinking about all sorts of different things, but mostly I was just grateful that my dog, Stella, was there with me enjoying it. It wasn’t that long ago that I thought I would not be able to take her for any more long walks. And then I found a vet who had some great ideas on how to help her out, and we are back to running/walking 6km most days. It’s nice to find a vet you can trust.

So, how was I going to make the most of this design? Well, I took the idea of numbering the beads with the different colours that I was going to use. That was necklace #1. And then I just moved along a couple of spaces, and started the numbering at a different bead for necklace #2. This way, I can make 2 necklaces, and 2 pairs of earrings using the same glass, but they would turn out quite different.
Exhibition work is quite different from production work. With exhibitions you have a lot of freedom (and usually a lot of time) to play with new ideas. To try things and see how they work.
With production you have to be a little bit more precise with your work. You have to make the most time appropriate decisions so that your work ends up “costing” a feasible amount. Unfortunately it is true what they say “Time is Money.”

Sorry to interrupt my Design Decisions posts, but I just had to let you know that my 100 Poppies necklace was awarded second prize in the South East Art Society Remembrance Exhibition 3D category.
I was really pleased, because if you remember this post, you will know that the necklace took a long time to get it just right!

So, in the last post I had determined that I was going to make the beads for both necklaces and see how they turned out. Well, this is how they both turned out:
I am curious about what other people think of these necklaces, but I have to admit that as soon as I laid the beads out, I knew which necklace I preferred!
Yes, it is the necklace with 3 different colours in it. I like how that extra colour makes the necklace just that little bit more interesting. It has a little bit of extra colour, without having too much colour like the original necklaces.
Now, to turn that idea into a production item required one more step in my thinking, and I’ll share that with you tomorrow.
