Remember that yellow vase from yesterday?
Well, I had some beads leftover after finishing the bracelet, so I decided to make a pair of earrings with the smallest of the beads. Oh, how they sparkle in the light! Such a pretty colour.

Well, I had some beads leftover after finishing the bracelet, so I decided to make a pair of earrings with the smallest of the beads. Oh, how they sparkle in the light! Such a pretty colour.
…the other day my friend Jenny gave me a vase that was no longer able to function as a vase. She thought I might like the glass to make beads with. She thought right!
I actually couldn’t wait to break this vase and start melting beads. I was curious to see how the colour would hold up under the flame. Most of the time glass stays true to its original colour, but sometimes weird things can happen!
I made a bunch of small round beads, just to see how they would turn out. And I was so happy when I opened the kiln and found lots of lovely little yellow beads in there! Such a pretty colour.
Do you have a vase or another glass object at home that is no longer functional? Maybe it has a crack or a chip, or is completely broken? Sometimes these items have sentimental value, and they are hard to throw in the bin. If you would like to have these items remade into a wearable piece of art…please feel free to get in touch. I love making special things for people.
I love how the light sparkles through this bracelet! I have made the beads from a mixture of wine and beer bottles. I have decorated the beads with smashed up glass, giving it a real mix of colours. The clear beads in between definitely add to the sparkle.
I like that this bracelet is perfect for everyday wear, and could also be worn for special occasions. I’m looking forward to making more bracelets like this. And in case you are wondering, they are surprisingly comfortable to wear!
I am given lots of old bottles from all sorts of people, and I really love that people are using me like a recycling bin. Sometimes it takes me a while to make something from the glass, but I’ve definitely had a lot of fun with this wine bottle this week. Who knew that a clear wine bottle could be made into so many different pieces of jewellery? Remember this necklace? And this bracelet? Here’s another necklace to add to the collection:
I have to admit, it’s lovely when I have a bunch of beads here and I can just start playing with them, putting them together this way and that way. Sometimes the nicest things come from just picking up beads and putting them together! Like this bracelet, made with beads from a wine bottle, here:
I pretty much love everything about these earrings:
Grateful to Nola for suggesting that I make them.
I have to admit that after making this red flower necklace, and this Hendricks Gin necklace, I have been a little bit obsessed with making flower necklaces lately!
This is the latest version of the necklace. I have made the beads from a clear wine bottle. I really love how this one has come together, so pretty.
I have made this pair of earrings with beads made from a Champagne bottle! I love the richness of this colour, and they do look a little bit more sparkly when they are held up to the light, rather than placed on wood to photograph!
Anyway, I have been wearing the gold pixie dust pair that I made earlier this year. I love them so much, they are my current favourite earrings to wear. I even had a random stranger comment on them the other day “ooh, they are wonderful earrings you are wearing.” Kind of made my day really…
So I mentioned in this post how much I enjoyed the process of enamelling last year. I also mentioned I was looking forward to making more enamelled pieces this year.
Well, guess what? I made some pieces today! I had some blue enamels here, and I used them to add some stunning colours to some copper tubes. Such pretty colours…and they work beautifully with the beads that I have made from vodka, gin and wine bottles.
Hmm…think I might have to check out the other enamel colours…
This long, long string of blue recycled glass beads mixed with seed beads makes a very versatile necklace that can be worn several ways….and can also be wrapped around as a bracelet.
