OK, I promise this will be the final instalment of the trip to Melbourne!  We had a really wonderful weekend away, and I saw some amazing art while my husband took the kids to the zoo (and yes, he has received the husband of the year medal).

The other contemporary jewellery galleries I visited were: Pieces of Eight and e.g. etal.  It was awesome to see the work of people I have read about or seen in books or on websites in the flesh!

And then there was Craft.  What a great place for celebrating all things related to craft!  There were 4 exhibitions on while I was there.  These pictures are from my favourite one by Ben Taranto.  He has used glass to create these sculptures.  Glass he has found.  I thought it was really cool, similar but very different to what I do with glass!

We went to Melbourne on the weekend!  It was fantastic in so many ways.  The main reason for the visit was to see the Flame On exhibition at Kirra Galleries.  This was the weekend when they were having all sorts of flame-working demonstrations alongside the exhibition, so it was a great opportunity to see some other artists in action.

Plus I got to see MY work hanging in the gallery.  I was very nervous/excited/anxious to see it all really.  I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I was pleasantly surprised at the red sticker on one of the pairs of earrings!  I love the way the gallery hung my work.  I love seeing necklaces hung like this.

And I loved seeing the work of the other glass bead makers.  It was great to see such a diverse range of beads and jewellery being made.

I have been busy re-distributing my work after my SALA exhibitions.  I am sending bits and pieces here there and everywhere!  This includes new galleries in Stirling and Warrnambool!

I wanted to use a clear glass to make some beads, and I really love how these turned out.  I’ve etched the smaller beads, and made the bigger beads really colourful!

We have had some nice weather here the last few days, it’s been a real treat.  I’ve enjoyed going out into the garden with a cup of tea.  I’ve been looking over the plans I made at the start of the year, seeing what I’ve actually done, and what is left to do…what I did that was not on the list, and what else I would like to do that is not on the list!

I thought it might be kind of ironic/funny to make some beads from a Peroni beer bottle.  Peroni is an Italian beer, and most of the lampworking glass I use is made in Italy!

I love the colour of this glass.  So rich and bright and pretty!

I just realised that I didn’t show you the necklace that went with the earrings from the other day, so here it is.  Such a great colour, a real show stopper!  I like to let the colour of the Skyy Vodka bottle shine through, so I don’t do a lot in terms of embellishing the beads.
